Skoda to go wild at 2014 Geneva Motor Show

Skoda, the Czech republic automaker has some real big plans for the upcoming 2014 Geneva Motor Show, as the company will showcase a whole series of special editions and new models at the event. As a world premiere, the company will reveal the new Skoda Octavia Scout, new Octavia G-TEC with natural gas propulsion. Also, at the showcase will be the new top-of-the-line Laurin & Klement edition of the Octavia, which has been named after the founder of the brand. Skoda will also launch three new Monte Carlo special editions with sport trim for the Yeti, Rapid Spaceback and Citigo.
The new Skoda Octavia Scout will make its world premier at the Show. This crossover-model of the car has robust off-road looks, capabilities to drive on difficult ground and contemporary all-wheel drive system. The Octavia Scout has powerful front and rear bumpers and all-round plastic mouldings. The ground clearance of of the car has been increased by 33mm to 171mm, to make it off-roading competent. The car will be made available in two diesel and one petrol engine options.
The Skoda Octavia G-TEC too will make its world premier at the show. This is first mass-produced Octavia with natural gas drive. "Skoda has rigorously reduced consumption and emissions in the development of its vehicles," says Dr. Frank Welsch, Skoda Board Member for Technical Development and Design. The engine of the car can use both compressed natural gas (CNG) and petrol fuels. Two full gas tanks will last a distance of up to 410 km. When the CNG tanks are empty, the vehicle switches over automatically to run on petrol. The natural gas drive will be available for both the Skoda Octavia and the Octavia Combi.
The Skoda Octavia L&Ks will be the highlight product, to be showcased at the event. L&K stands for Laurin & Klement, the founder fathers of the Czech brand. The L&K is basically a package to be available for both the Octavia and the Octavia Combi.
The L&K will feature 18-inch aluminium wheels, bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights. Inside the cabin, there is a 4-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, leather/Alcantara seats in elegant brown colour, and the CANTON sound system and newly-designed decorative trims. The Octavia L&K will be made available in three engine options- the 1.8-litre 177bhp petrol engine and two diesel engines: the 2.0-litre TDI 147.5bhp and the 2.0-litre TDI 181bhp.
Skoda will also launch three special Monte Carlo editions of the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid Spaceback at the show. With the existing Fabia and Fabic combi, Skoda will now have five Monte Carlo special models.
