"Cooperating With Authorities Where Possible," Says Mercedes-Benz India In Cyrus Mistry Death

Former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry passed away earlier this week in a road accident near Mumbai. The Shapoorji Pallonji Group scion was travelling in his friend's car on September 4, 2022 in a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. The car crashed into a divider killing Mistry instantly along with co-passenger Jehangir Pandole. Both were seated in the back seat. Given the gravity of the accident, Mercedes-Benz India has issued a statement in the matter and iterated that the company is cooperating with authorities.
A statement from Mercedes-Benz India read, “We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Mr. Cyrus Mistry and Mr. Jehangir Pandole in the unfortunate road accident. At the same time we are glad to learn that Ms. Anahita Pandole and Mr. Darius Pandole are recovering. We wish them a speedy recovery. As a responsible brand respecting customer privacy, our team is cooperating with the authorities where possible, and we will provide any clarifications to them directly as required. We will continue our ongoing efforts to increase road safety awareness as a responsible manufacturer while equipping our vehicles with the latest safety features and technologies.”
Cyrus, 54, was with Anahita Pandole and her husband Darius Pandole in the car. Anahita was driving the GLC when the SUV crashed into the divider of the Surya river bridge at Charoti naka in Palghar district. Both are said to be recovering in the hospital at the moment. On the other hand, early investigations have revealed that both Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole were not wearing seatbelts that would've otherwise reduced the impact of the crash.
Cyrus Mistry was the youngest son of SP Group. His funeral was held earlier today and saw major heads from the corporate world paying their respects. Cyrus is survived by his wife Rohiqua and sons, Firoz and Zahan.
