2016 Honda Brio Facelift Spotted In India

- Honda might launch the Brio Facelift in the festive season
- Mechanically, the car will remain the same. No diesel engine for now
- There are subtle changes to the front end with a new grille and bumper
The news that Honda is preparing a facelift for the Brio was doing the rounds for the longest time. Also, ever since the Brio was launched in 2011, Honda has hardly given any updates to it. The facelifted Brio first made an appearance at the 2016 Indonesia Motor Show in April this year. We believe that the Brio Facelift will soon make its way into India as it was spotted in one of the dealerships. From what is evident in the photographs is the fact that the front end has become slightly sportier, thanks to a new grille with a single slat and a re-styled bumper which are a reminiscent of the Honda Mobilio RS. If we look at the rear, there are no changes whatsoever. The car remains as it was, from the rear.

A quick look inside and one can make out that the dashboard is completely new along with the steering wheel and is taken from the Honda Amaze Facelift. There is a 2-din audio system along with a slightly bigger instrument cluster and a small circle to the right of the steering wheel, which could be a provision for a start-stop push-button. The interior is done in all black and is definitely a step up from the current model.

As far as the drivetrain is concerned, the Brio will continue to be powered by the existing 1.2-litre engine that produces 87bhp and 109Nm of torque. The car can either be specified with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission (torque converter). The manual version of the Brio returns 19.4km to a litre while the automatic variant has a fuel efficiency figure of 16.5 km/l. The prices for the current generation Honda Brio start at Rs. 4.45 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
