Ahead of the launch, the company has unveiled the European-spec of the new EcoSport, which now also gets a new ST-Line option. The sporty Ford EcoSport ST-Line model comes with a sportier styling than the standard EcoSport facelift, along with an all-new 123 bhp, 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine and Ford's Intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD) technology. Now, most of the design and styling cues of the 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift are very similar to the model that was showcased at the LA Motor Show early this year. Having said that, the Ford's new EcoSport ST-Line model comes with some striking visual upgrades, which enhance the sporty character of the SUV. For instance, the new EcoSport ST-Line model comes in a dual tone paint scheme with blackened roof and pillars, a black grille, new projector headlamps and sporty accents at the rear. The ST-Line model also comes with the option of either 16- or 17-inch dual tone black and chrome alloy wheels, side skirts, black ORVMs and black roof rails.

In addition to the 1.5-litre EcoBlue engine with AWD and FWD, the Euro-spec Ford EcoSport facelift also gets the 99 bhp, 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, which is available in India, combined with front-wheel drive. Both the motors come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is also the popular 1-litre EcoBoost petrol engine on offer that comes in two states of tune 138 bhp and 123 bhp mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. In India, the EcoBoost engine only comes in the manual option.

Ford is simultaneously gearing up to launch the EcoSport facelift in India as well and while the styling, design and features list will be largely similar to the global-spec model there will be some considerable changes. For instance, the Indian spec model will get a tailgate mounted spare wheel as standard, unlike the Euro-spec model and also the engine options will be same as in the outgoing EcoSport. It would be interesting if Ford offers the AWD option in India as well but we do not expect to see in in the upcoming facelift version.
