2018 Harley-Davidson Softail Range Launched In India

- H-D India has also launched the Fat Boy at 17.49 lakh (ex-Delhi)
- All H-D Softail bikes are powered by Milwaukee 8 107 engines
- The bikes weigh lesser and have improved performance, says the company
Harley-Davidson India has completely revamped its cruiser range for 2018, launching the 2018 Softail range of motorcycles with the all-new Milwaukee Eight engines and new chassis. Last year, Harley-Davidson introduced the new Milwaukee Eight engines in its touring range, and for 2018, the four-valve engines make their way into the Softail range. For India though, Harley-Davidson has introduced four models in the 2018 Softail range - the Fat Boy, Fat Bob, Street Bob and the Heritage Softail Classic. The Harley-Davidson Fat Bob is priced at Rs. 13.99 lakh, the Street Bob is priced at Rs. 11.99 lakh, the Heritage Softail Classic is priced at Rs. 18.99 lakh while the surprise launch, the Fat Boy, has been priced at Rs. 17.49 lakh. The Fat Bob is powered by the Milwaukee Eight 107 engine
The Fat Bob and Street Bob are powered by the Milwaukee Eight 107 engine, while the Heritage Softail Classic is powered by the Milwaukee Eight 114 engine. The 45-degree, four valve per cylinder engine now has dual counterbalancers.

The bikes also get an all-new chassis, which is lighter by as much as 15 kg and has increased rigidity, promising less vibration and better handling and stability for the bikes. Also new is upgraded suspension, with an underseat "hidden" single shock, as well as Showa dual-bending valve forks carried over from the Touring range.

Aesthetically too, there are a few changes on the 2018 Softails, with all the bikes incorporating LED headlamps, and minor changes in design. The 2018 Fat Bob gets the most changes with a completely re-designed face with a radically designed horizontal shaped LED headlight.

The most significant change though is the new engine, and along with the lighter weight and updated suspension should make the new bikes have a significant have considerable better performance and handling.
