2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE Spied With New MBUX Infotainment System

- The new Mercedes-Benz GLE will be based on the E-Class' platform
- The MBUX infotainment system is aided by artificial intelligence (AI)
- The 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE is expected to be unveiled this year
A test of the upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLE was recently spotted testing. This time around, the spy images give us a glimpse of the new dashboard as well, which now comes with what looks like Mercedes' new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. Supported by the company latest artificial intelligence (AI), the all-new infotainment system is set to make its debut with the new-gen A-Class, on February 2, 2018. Now, Mercedes-Benz had previously claimed that MBUX will be used in compact cars, but the new images suggest that Mercedes might introduce the new Linux-based smart infotainment system in its other models, like the new GLE.

Mercedes-Benz first revealed the MBUX at the Consumer Electronic Show 2018 (CES 2018), announcing that it will enter series production in 2018 in the new A-Class. The system can be individualised and adapts to suit the user and thus creates a connection between the vehicle, driver and passengers, and at the same time, updates "over the air" are possible. The system includes the high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen operation, navigation display with augmented reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, which, as we mentioned earlier, is activated with the keyword "Hey Mercedes".
The current-generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLE was introduced in early 2015, evolving from the older ML-Class. Mercedes-Benz has been working on an updated version for a while now we should get to see the SUV by the end of 2018. The test mule in these images is still draped in heavy camouflage, so we won't be able to comment much on exterior styling. However, the new GLE will get new underpinnings by switching to the MRA platform, same as the new-gen E-Class and recently unveiled CLS.
The technical detail and engine options are still unknown, but Mercedes has announced that the company is planning to replace its V6 engine with new in-line six engines. This leads us to believe the new Mercedes-Benz GLE could be one of the new models to get the new flat-six motors.
