Volkswagen has teased the 2019 T-Cross SUV and we get to see a few sketches. The T-Cross was first presented at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show but back then it was introduced as a study. However, given that the trend of SUVs is global, there was no doubt about the T-Cross making it to production. With the T-Cross, Volkswagen is expanding the spectrum of Sport Utility Vehicles to include a small model. We expect the world premiere of the new T-Cross to take place by October or November this year. Until then, Volkswagen will shorten the waiting time with a first look at the future SUV.

The T-Cross, T-Roc, Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg will now be the five SUV formats of the brand in Europe. But, the new T-Cross will also make its way to China and South America. At 4107mm long, the T-Cross is a compact SUV for both the rough roads and the urban setting. The T-Cross will be based on the MQB platform and according to the company 'creates a surprising amount of room.' For example, the back seat can be adjusted lengthwise - for more knee room or more room for luggage. Volkswagen even goes on to say that the 'T-Cross is entering the market as one of the safest vehicles of its class, guaranteed through excellent crash properties and a large spectrum of assistance systems.' It will come with standard features like an ambient traffic monitoring system) and Lane Assist (lane departure warning system).

Volkswagen might use a variety of engines for the T-Cross which will range from turbocharged 1.0-litre engines and also have high capacity diesel engines. Expect the T-Cross to have four-wheel drive as an option as well. The standard T-Cross will have FWD setup. The T-Cross will be positioned below the Tiguan globally and we have no doubt that it'll make its way to India because well, that's the announcement that Skoda made just yesterday about focus on the MQB platform for the Indian market. The T-Cross is ideal then for the country as it will go up against the likes of the Hyundai Creta and even the Renault Captur.
