2021 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Launched In India; Priced At Rs. 11.95 Lakh

- The Triump Tiger 850 Sport is Rs. 1.75 lakh cheaper than the Tiger 900
- The Tiger 850 Sport is road-biased, and shares equipment with the 900
- Bookings for the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport are already open at dealerships
Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Tiger 850 Sport, its most affordable adventurer tourer priced at Rs. 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new ADV is positioned as an entry-level offering in the Tiger line-up and will target first-time buyers and tourers looking for more road-biased mannerisms and easy ride-ability over a fully-blown off-road motorcycle. Compared to the Tiger 900, the new 850 Sport is about Rs. 1.75 lakh cheaper. The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport shares most of its underpinnings with the Tiger 900 including the frame, engine, among other mechanicals. This, Triumph India expects, coupled with a slightly lower price tag, is expected to attract a number of first-time buyers to the Tiger family. However, it's still an expensive proposition and is likely to just offer an optional variant in the Triumph Tiger family.

The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport has the same 888 cc inline three-cylinder engine but in a different state of tune
The new Triumph Tiger 850 Sport made its global debut last year and is the first launch from the brand in 2021. The motorcycle is powered by the familiar 888 cc T-plane engine that also powers the Tiger 900. The motor though has been de-tuned to develop 84 bhp at 8500 rpm and 82 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The inline triple comes with a 1-3-2 firing order that offers better tractability at the lower end of the rev band, which makes it more convenient to use within city limits. The bike also comes with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch that further amplifies the 850 Sport's appeal. The bike gets Ride-by-Wire and two riding modes - Road and Rain.

The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport looks identical to the Tiger 900, but has been tuned to be a road-biased tourer
In terms of styling, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport looks identical to the Tiger 900. The sharp nose, tall beak, and slender frame, all have been carried over. The bike differentiates its road-biased set-up with the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel combination, while the ergonomics can be optimised with an adjustable seat height up to 20 mm. The frame, sub-frame, suspension, and brakes come from the larger Tiger 900. The bike is being offered in two colours - Graphite & Diablo Red, and Graphite & Caspian Blue
