  • It features level 4 autonomous technology

Audi has revealed a brand new electric autonomous concept car called the Skysphere which is propelled by an 80kWh battery delivering 500 kilometres of range as per the WLTP standard. Fundamentally, it is a Grand Touring (GT) car and has a sports mode. It is a low slung two-seater with a roadster configuration giving an aggressive and sporty ride with a long wheelbase. In Grand Touring mode this car is 5105.4 mm long while in Sports mode the car shrinks by 254 mm to 4,851 mm. Audi is touting the concept of a modifiable wheelbase which is very unique. It features a very fancy futuristic interior with support for level 4 autonomous driving. There is even a mode where the driver and the passenger can take in the surroundings without having to focus on the road. In Sports mode, it becomes a driver-centric car which brings the dashboard display closer to the driver.

The car features level 4 autonomous driving technology

Audi was inspired by the Horsch 853 Roadster bringing a retro concept back to life but in a very futuristic way. The car is very heavy being an EV weighing around 1,800 kilograms, though this number is not too bad for an EV. It gets a 465 kW motor which deliveries the equivalent of 614.5 bhp with a 0-100 kmph figure that's less than 4 seconds.

One of the unique aspects of the vehicle is where the battery of the car is placed. Instead of the floor, the batteries have been placed at the rear end for the sake of the changeable wheelbase concept, though this means the car could've been faster as it loses some benefits of an optimal centre of gravity. The car was designed in the Audi Malibu Design loft but manufactured in Germany and then sent back to the US.
