- It recorded a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 12 per cent.
Honda Cars India has sold 6,784 units in the domestic market last month, recording a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 12 per cent when compared to 6,055 units it sold in the same month a year ago. The Japanese carmaker also exported 2,104 units in July 2022 to other market from India which is a growth 129.19 per cent when compared to 918 units which the company exported in the same month last year. That said, the company recorded a month-on-month (MoM) sales decline of 34.36 per cent as it had sold 10,336 units in June this year.
Sharing thoughts on the July'22 sales performance, Yuichi Murata, Director, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, "We have witnessed a good demand trend in last few months across model line-up. Unfortunately, the ongoing chip shortage continues to impact and slowdown our supplies. We are diligently aligning our production to meet the demand as quickly as possible." He further added, "On a cumulative basis, HCIL sales have grown by 40 per cent over last year. As we approach the festive period, we hope that the demand will continue to stay strong and bring in the much-needed festive cheer for the industry after the challenging situation last year."
Honda Cars India has cited chip shortage as one of the major reasons of slow sales growth as it continues taking a toll on the company's supply chain. The company claims to be witnessing a healthy demand trend but is facing slowdown in supplies.
