Auto Sales July 2022: Kia's Monthly Sales Drop 8.3%

- Kia sold 22,022 units in the month of July 2022.
- Kia recorded a 46.6% YoY growth, but saw an 8.3% MoM decline.
- Kia Carens took the biggest hit, as its sales went from 7,895 to 5,978 units.
Kia India announced that it sold 22,022 units in the domestic market in July 2022, reporting a 46.6 per cent year-over-year growth, as it sold just 15,016 units in July 2021. However, Kia's month-over-month figures have seen a dip as the Korean carmaker sold 2,002 fewer units in July 2022, as compared to June, accounting for a 8.3 per cent decline in sales figures. Seltos led the way in sales once again, as Kia managed to sell 8,451 units of the compact SUV. Following that was the Sonet subcompact SUV with 7,215 units sold, and Carens MPV with 5,978 units sold. Kia also managed to sell 288 units of the Carnival MPV.
Commenting on the performance, Hardeep Singh Brar, Vice President & Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India said, “Gradual improvement in the supply chain and our customers’ continued love for the brand is adding momentum to Kia India’s growth. This year, we are outpacing the industry with cumulative growth of 28.4% over 2021, which is much higher than the industry growth of 16%.”
While the sales figures for Seltos, Sonet, and Carnival remained more or less the same, the Carens saw its sales figures go down by 24.3 per cent, as Kia sold 1,917 fewer units of the MPV this month. This figure accounts for most of Kia's sales decline, as leaving the Carens out, Kia only sold 85 units lesser than June.
