Bentley & Porsche in the Race to Make the World's Fastest SUV

There is little doubt that the world is a highly competitive place and the race to best one another keeps getting bigger by the day. Honestly, nobody is complaining either, for it only leads to better things. For example, hypercars; the horsepower battle has resulted in cars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918, and McLaren P1. Another such race, i.e. the one for the world's fastest production car, has seen Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, Hennessey Venom GT and is gearing up to welcome more contenders. You get my drift?
Anyway, the latest addition to the long-long list of 'We can do it better than you' obsessions is Porsche and Bentley. Wolfgang Durheimer, CEO, Bentley said that the Bentley Bentayga - which will be the Crewe based luxury carmaker's flagship model - will not only be the most luxurious and expensive SUV in the world, but also the fastest. The Bentayga is being engineered to deliver a top-speed of about 322Km/h, which will make it the faster than the current-gen Porsche Cayenne and thus, the fastest SUV in the world.
This claim, turns out, didn't go down too well with Porsche's R&D boss - Wolfgang Hatz. While interacting with the media at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, Hatz said, "Our Cayenne is always very, very quick. It is doing 300Km/h [186 mph]. I think if [Durheimer] is doing 2 to 3Km/h more, then why not? He's doing that with a 12-cylinder. Our car will be much quicker on the road."
The German sports carmaker unveiled the new Cayenne Turbo S - an SUV that lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 56 seconds- at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. Hatz said the new-gen SUV will shed at least the same ratio of weight as the new Audi Q7 has. The weight-loss along with the all-new turbocharged V8, and you know this baby will be flaunting some really fancy numbers.
