BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the new BMW F 450 GS at EICMA 2025. The F 450 GS was first shown in concept form at last year’s edition of the Milan motorcycle show, and now it's been unveiled in its full production form glory. The new F 450 GS is a product of the partnership between BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company, and manufactured in India, by TVS.

The new F 450 GS is built around a new 420cc parallel-twin engine platform. Offered across four variants, the new BMW F 450 GS boasts of a tractable engine with 47 bhp and a ready to ride weight of just 178 kg. Multiple variants, adjustable suspension in higher spec variants, as well as a centrifugal clutch and quickshifter make it a properly kitted-out mid-size adventure motorcycle. Here's a look at what's special about the new BMW F 450 GS.

420cc parallel-twin engine makes 47 bhp and 43 Nm
BMW Motorrad describes the new parallel-twin engine as “smooth-running and characterful” with a crankshaft with 135-degree crankpin offset and a single balance shaft which reduces unwanted vibrations. The twin-cylinder engine produces 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm.

BMW Motorrad claims a top speed of 165 kmph and 0-100 kmph acceleration time in 5.9 seconds. The newly designed six-speed transmission transmits torque to the left-hand secondary drive via an X-ring chain. For fast upshifts and downshifts, the F 450 GS also gets a Shift Assistant Pro quickshifter system in all equipment variants, except the base variant. It can be retrofitted on the base variant as well.

Among the technical highlights is the BMW Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), which is a further development of a centrifugal clutch, which eliminates the need to manually operate a clutch lever while riding. This system is standard on the GS Trophy variant and available as optional accessory for all other model variants. In combination with Shift Assistant Pro, manual operation of the clutch lever is completely eliminated. The clutch lever, however has been retained and allows the rider to intervene manually if necessary – for instance, to lift the front wheel over an obstacle or to improve control when descending on slippery surfaces.

The BMW F 450 GS features a four-way X-shaped LED daytime running light which seems to be inspired by the new BMW R 1300 GS. A large 6.5-inch TFT console provides comprehensive information and functionality. Three standard ride modes – Road, Rain and Enduro are offered, and an additional Enduro Pro mode is available starting with the Exclusive trim level. Adjustable hand levers are standard, as well as heated grips.

BMW says the new F 450 GS carries forward the iconic BMW GS design but offers a playful and versatile all-rounder in the 450 GS. It is said to offer the best of everything – everyday usability, sporty dynamic performance, touring comfort and off-road capability. With a 14-litre fuel tank and claimed fuel consumption of over 26 kmpl, BMW Motorrad claims a practical usable range of over 350 km in one tankful.

Four attractive equipment variants are offered. The BMW F 450 GS Basis model in Cosmic Black, the BMW F 450 GS Exclusive, also in Cosmic Black, with off-road footrests, handguards, a plastic underbody guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro and a clear windshield.

The BMW F 450 GS Sport in Racing Red includes off-road footpegs, hand guards, engine guard, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, tinted Rallye windshield and sport suspension, with the KYB fork adjustable in rebound and compression.

The BMW F 450 GS Trophy variant in Racing Blue Metallic tops the line-up. It offers off-road footrests, white handguards, Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, “Sports Suspension,” a tinted rally windshield, an aluminium engine guard, and the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC).

The newly developed chassis with tubular steel frame is said to offer optimal rigidity, robustness and precision. A short wheelbase has been introduced for agile and playful handling. The new F 450 GS runs on cast alloy wheels in a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, kitted out with tubeless tyres. Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range offers cross-spoke wheels as an option.

Up front is a 43 mm KYB upside-down fork with adjustability for rebound and compression offered in Sport and GS Trophy variants. At the rear is a closed, torsionally rigid, hollow cast aluminium double-sided swingarm, with a directly connected KYB central spring strut with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. Suspension travel at both ends is 180 mm, and standard seat height is 845 mm.

The F 450 GS features a braking system combined with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, with a 310 mm front disc with Brembo four-piston fixed caliper up front. At the rear is a single 240 mm disc brake with a singe-piston floating caliper from ByBre. Dynamic Brake Control and Dynamic Brake Light are additional safety features.

For now, the new BMW F 450 GS has only been revealed at the EICMA show. It is likely to be launched in India sometime in the second half of 2026, and it will go up against several rivals, including the Royal Enfield Himalayan, the Honda NX500, KTM 390 Adventure and even the Benelli TRK 502. We expect prices to be around Rs. 5 lakh (Ex-showroom), once it's launched in India.
