BMW Z4 Bows Out As Final Edition Draws Curtains On The Drop Top

- Third-gen BMW Z4 gets a final edition
- Offered across all Z4 version with manual or auto
- Production wraps in March 2026
BMW is preparing to wrap up production of the Z4, and the brand is giving its roadster a farewell in the form of a limited-run Final Edition. Set to end production in March 2026, the two-seat convertible, now in its third generation, takes the centre stage for the last time before it retires.

The Final Edition brings a handful of design tweaks and bundles together almost every optional extra available for the model. It wears a special Frozen Matt Black paint finish, which is paired with BMW’s Shadowline trim. However, opting for any of the Z4’s regular colours at no additional cost is still offered. Red M Sport brakes staggered 19- and 20-inch wheels with machined surfaces, and a Moonlight Black soft top rounds off the exterior updates.
As for the interior, the cabin gets a sportier look thanks to red contrast stitching that runs across the dashboard, centre console, doors and the M Sport seats, which are trimmed in Vernasca leather and Alcantara. The steering wheel also gets matching Alcantara with red accents, and engraved door-sill plates mark the Final Edition’s identity. The package also includes features like a premium sound system, additional driver-assistance tech, and other upgrades that are normally optional.
Globally, BMW is offering the Final Edition across the entire Z4 lineup: from the 194 bhp sDrive20i and the 255 bhp sDrive30i to the 335 bhp M40i. Those who manage to get one of these will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Production numbers remain under wraps for now, but BMW says the order books will open for a short period starting late January 2026. After that, the Z4 nameplate will officially take its bow, at least for the third-generation model. The current generation, unveiled in 2018 and developed alongside Toyota for the Supra, will wrap up its run after more than half a decade on the market.
