- Here is a list of pros and cons of buying a used Jawa Forty Two
- The Jawa Forty Two and the Jawa Classic were launched in 2018
- The Jawa Forty Two gets a 293 cc, single-cylinder engine
The Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty Two were launched in 2018 and managed to capture the imagination of modern classic motorcycle enthusiasts in India. Both motorcycles were direct rivals to Royal Enfield's range of 350 cc motorcycles. The Jawa Forty Two in particular looks the part of a modern classic and is affordable as well, in case you are looking to buy a used model. But before you do so, here is a list of pros and cons of buying a used Jawa Forty Two that you could look at.
(The Forty Two gets the same engine as the standard Jawa, which is a 293 cc single-cylinder unit, making 28 bhp and 27 Nm)
Pros
- The Jawa Forty Two gets a beautiful modern classic design, replete with a retro instrument pod, classic lines, old-school design and dual exhausts.
- The 293 cc engine on the BS4 model makes 28 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque, which means that the power on tap is more than that of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (previous-generation model). In addition, the Jawa is also significantly lighter than the Classic 350. This means that you will not be left wanting for performance.
- Later models also get single and dual channel ABS, which is always a good feature to have on a motorcycle.
(The design of the Jawa Forty Two is bit different from the standard Jawa)
Cons
- The suspension on Jawa Forty Two is stiff. So, it may not be as comfortable on broken roads.
- Jawa has limited sales and service touchpoints across the country which means that availability of spares may not be as quick and the turnaround times for servicing may be a little more than other brands.
- The Jawa Forty Two does not have a kickstart option, which may be a hindrance for some buyers.
