Ducati Dismisses Reports of Scrambler Sixty2 Launch in India

"It is certainly not going to be launched in India," the official said, adding that there are restrictions on bringing in CBUs of lower capacity bikes into India since the entire Ducati range being sold in India is assembled at Ducati's Thailand plant.
The name Sixty2 pays tribute to the year 1962, when Ducati introduced its Scrambler for the first time. That time Scrambler was a brand name for a series of single-cylinder motorcycles that Ducati used to make specifically for the American market. The new age Scramblers from Ducati, however, use an L-twin engine, and the Sixty2 is also equipped with one such mill.
The Scrambler Sixty2 was unveiled at the EICMA held in Milan, Italy a few weeks ago, and the bike had an L-twin 399cc engine delivering 41bhp and 34.6Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The engine is similar to the one found one in the Scrambler but has lesser displacement as against the Scrambler's 803cc engine delivering 75bhp of peak power and 68Nm of peak torque. The bike is aimed at entry level riders who prefer riding a smaller capacity motorcycle instead of riding a too powerful one. This trend has started once again as the new riders and even experienced riders are preferring motorcycles with manageable power which is easy to use and maneuver. This allows the riders to have more fun without compromising on their safety.
In India, however, the Sixty2 would have been seen as an entry level superbike and primarily an upgrade from 160-300cc bikes, but until and unless the rules are relaxed or changed, the Sixty2 is not going to come to India anytime soon.
