- Ola Electric car to have a full glass roof
- Will have a drag coefficient of under 0.21
- Ola plans to roll out as many as six cars from its upcoming four wheeler factory
For a while now we had known that Ola would be making some big announcements on August 15 regarding its plans for the growing Indian EV segment. Aside from relaunching the standard Ola S1 scooter, the carmaker also revealed new details in regard to its upcoming first electric car and production facility.
Ola Electric revealed details of its new production facility for its four-wheelers which would be developed alongside its existing scooter factory. The new 200-acre facility will be coming up alongside a new 100-acre battery cell manufacturing facility and would see the roll-out of as many as 6 new cars based on two dedicated platforms. The company had in previous teasers revealed front and rear styling elements of multiple models with the most recent – shown in the August 15 presentation - showing a sleek coupe-like design along with confirming some specifications.
The carmaker confirmed that the firm’s first electric car would have a drag co-efficient of under 0.21 with the teaser video revealing a svelte four-door coupe design. Other elements visible from previous teasers revealed a full-length light bar at the front and rear along with illuminated logos. The company also confirmed a sub 4 second 0-100 kmph time as well as a range of over 500km per charge for the EV.
The company also confirmed that the EV would get an all-glass roof along with featuring a door handle-less design. Ola Electric also revealed some of the tech that would be on offer with the car to also run a version of the company’s MoveOS software and support over-the-air updates as its current scooters. Ola also confirmed that the electric car would come with assisted driving capabilities – ADAS functions – though the company did not go into any more details.
The new electric car will debut in the Indian market by 2024 though in the meanwhile we could expect Ola Electric to drop more details on the vehicle in the build-up towards its reveal.
