Frankfurt 2017:All-New Bentley Continental GT Makes Its Global Debut

- This is the third-generation model of the Continental GT
- It is built on the MLB platform, which also underpins the Porsche Cayenne
- It gets a 6.0-litre W12 engine which makes 626 bhp and 900 Nm
The 2018 Bentley Continental GT broke cover at the ongoing 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The company says that this is an all-new model of the Continental GT, which first debuted in 2003. The all-new Continental GT is the third generation model and has been completely designed, engineered and built in Britain. Bentley believes that the Continental GT will yet again be the landmark against which all other luxury tourers are compared. Customers in Europe can already place and order for the new Continental GT and deliveries will begin in the second quarter of 2018.
(2018 Bentley Continental GT)Wolfgang Durheimer, Chairman and CEO, Bentley Motors, said, "Today is a defining moment for Bentley Motors. Today we build on our recent success story and look to the future with a new car that will set new standards in luxury grand touring. Today we introduce a car that is the ultimate in extraordinary design, technology and innovation."
(2018 Bentley Continental GT)The new Continental GT is built on the MLB platform which also does duty on the Porsche Panamera. Earlier, it used the VW Phaeton platform since its launch in 2003. As far as the design is concerned, the new car gets its front wheels positioned slightly forward, which results in a slightly lower body-work and a longer front bonnet along with shorter overhangs. It weighs around 2,250 kg and has a weight distribution in the ratio of 53:47. The new Continental GT will have only the 6.0-litre W12 engine which makes 626 bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque. The 0-100 kmph is claimed to be done in 3.7 seconds while the top speed is claimed to be 333 kmph.
Bentley has also promised that it is working on a plug-in hybrid model of the new Continental GT and will be ready with it in the near future.
