Highlights

  • The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 gets a 6-speed manual gearbox
  • It is powered by a 4.0 Litre flat-six engine making 493 bhp of peak power
  • The 2018 911 GT3 will be launched in India at a price of Rs. 2.2 crore

Most Porsche fans were rather disappointed when the previous 911 GT3 model was offered only with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission. For Porsche aficionados, it was nothing short of sacrilege. But with the new 911 GT3, Porsche paid heed to the cries of its fans and has given it a 6-speed manual sports gearbox. As far as the engine is concerned, the new 911 GT3 gets a 4.0 Litre flat-six engine which is naturally aspirated (surprise, again) and pumps out close to 493 bhp. The 2018 911 GT3 with the PDK automatic transmission does the 0-100 kmph sprint in 3.4 seconds and hits a maximum of 318 kmph. The manual 911 GT3 is just 0.5 seconds slower to reach the 100 kmph mark but has a slightly faster top speed of 320 kmph.

The chassis on the new 911 GT3 has been redesigned with rear-axle steering and the lightweight construction of the car lends it superior driving dynamics, or so Porsche says. Porsche will also offer three seat variants which are the adaptive sport seats with electrical adjustment, bucket seats with folding backrest and lastly, the third option is bucket seats made from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) in carbon weave finish. Also, the seats on the new 911 GT3 sit 25mm lower than the previous model. For the tech-savvy enthusiast, Porsche will also offer the Track Precision App as standard in addition to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) package and the Connect Plus module. The app will help customers to store and analyse all sorts of driving information on their smartphone.
