Taiwanese electric scooter brand Gogoro and Apple supplier Foxconn announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to speed up expansion of Gogoro's battery swapping system. Under the partnership, Gogoro will use Foxconn's extensive production capacities to scale up manufacturing of smart scooters, and will also help Gogoro's global expansion. The companies will work together on several projects, including smart batteries, vehicle engineering, and manufacturing. By taking advantage of Foxconn's manufacturing capabilities, Gogoro will be able to focus on product design, tech development, branding, distribution, and customer service.

Gogoro is known for its battery swapping technology, which may be introduced in India

Gogoro recently signed a partnership with Hero MotoCorp to introduce its battery-swapping infrastructure, as well as electric scooters in India. Established in 2011, Gogoro has been at the forefront of battery swapping for electric scooters with its ecosystem called the Gogoro Network. The company claims 400,000 riders and 2,100 battery swapping stations to date. It also says the Gogoro Network is hosting 270,000 daily battery swaps, accumulating nearly 200 million total battery swaps.

Mostly active in Taiwan, Gogoro has also announced expansion in China, where it teamed up with two Chinese scooter manufacturers, Yadea and DCJ. Foxconn is among the world's largest electronics manufacturers. The company has identified electric vehicles as an important new business area, and aims to provide components or services to 10% of the world's electric cars by 2025 to 2027. Electric car maker Fisker has also finalised a vehicle assembly deal recently with Foxconn.
