Honda Mobilio Receives 5,800 bookings; Expect a Waiting Period

Things are looking rather bright for Honda at the moment. It was only yesterday that it launched the Honda Mobilio in India, and what do you know! The company's first MPV here has already received 5,800 bookings. Considering that Honda began taking pre-orders for the Mobilio only from July 8 and has received overwhelming response since then, we expect the demand to only grow, which will eventually lead to a waiting period.

The company has been experiencing a rather successful streak of late, especially since the arrival of the Honda Amaze and the new generation Honda City arrived in India. Honda City achieved the fastest sale of 50,00 units, and has captured over 50 per cent market share in its league. The sales numbers of these cars have left little to imagination and Honda intends to achieve the same with the Mobilio. The fact that the company has sold over 5.5 million MPVs across the world in the last 20 years ought to be enough to reassure Honda about the Mobilio's success too.
Though the Mobilio is a new entrant in the Indian market, it has been quite the success in Indonesia. Honda launched the MPV there in January, 2014 and has sold 46,000 units of the car since then. That kind of response and the 5,800 bookings Honda Mobilio has already received in India ought to have the company pulling its socks up by now. That said, it remains to be seen exactly how long the waiting period for the Honda Mobilio will be, if at all.
