Honda's Accord brand name is set to return to India later this month after being discontinued in 2013. The ninth generation model will be offered in only the hybrid avatar in India and will arrive here via the CBU (completely built unit) route. Interestingly, the company's officials revealed that the sedan will initially be imported only on the basis of confirmed orders.

Among one of the most awaited launches this year, the new Honda Accord's hybrid powertrain uses a 2.0-litre iVTEC engine, two electric motors, a lithium-ion battery pack and an electronic control unit to offer a combined power output of 209bhp. The sedan uses an industry-first two-motor hybrid system: one motor to accelerate from a dead stop, and a second to start the engine and charge the first motor. It must be noted Honda also offers a choice of two petrol engines for the sedan in international markets.

The Honda Accord will come sporting a lean stance complemented by the chrome-laced grille, re-designed bumpers, and sharp-looking head-lamps with an LED strip. The cabin is expected to receive features such as push button start, multi-information display, dual-zone automatic climate control system, steering-mounted controls, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, reverse parking camera, six airbags, etc..

Honda Accord hyrbid, the automaker's only hybrid model in India, is expected to be priced nearly Rs. 30 lakh and will face competition from the Toyota Camry Hybrid.
