Jeep India Puts The Compass Trailhawk Through Its Paces Ahead Of Launch

- The Trailhawk is a Trail Rated top-end variant of the Jeep Compass
- The Compass Trailhawk gets rugged styling and off-road-spec equipment
- The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be launched in India later this year
Jeep India is all set to launch the new off-road-spec Jeep Compass Trailhawk in India this year and the company has been doing some extensive testing with the SUV. Earlier today an image of a prototype model of the upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk surfaced online with some minor camouflage, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Apparently, the company is testing the SUV with different calibrations to get the perfect setting suitable for our Indian roads. We recently drove the Compass Trailhawk in Australia and were quite impressed with the SUV, and now we hope that the India-spec model will also be worthy of being badged as 'Trail Rated'.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be the top-of-the-line variant of the SUV
This is the second time that images of a prototype of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk have come our way. Unlike the previous test mule, which flaunted all the accessories and badging of the Compass Trailhawk, you'll notice that this test mule is wearing the regular Compass' clothes, which is clearly indicated by the twin-five-spoke alloys and the mission red tow hooks on the bumper. It is also missing the signature matte black decal on the bonnet that is unique to Jeep's Trailhawk models. Other elements that differentiate the regular Jeep Compass from the Trailhawk variant include the 'Trail Rated' badging on the side fenders, different two-tone alloy wheels, and the 'Trailhawk' badging on the tailgate.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets all-black interior with red highlights
While we do not see the cabin of the SUV in the latest image, we know that the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will also get new all-black interior with red highlights. There is also a Trailhawk badging on the front driver and passenger seats along with red highlights on the upholstery, the leather wrapping along the gear lever, the steering and the panels. Apart from these changes, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will also feature an electronically selected low range transfer range and an added selectable rock mode. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk also gets hill descent control as standard equipment along with 6 parking sensors in the rear, 2 more than the regular Compass.
The India-spec Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get the existing 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine under the hood. The motor makes about 168 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque and while the company hasn't confirmed it yet, in India the Compass Trailhawk will come mated to a new 9-speed automatic gearbox.
