KTM Recalls 690 Duke and 690 Duke R Globally For Fuel Leak Issues

- KTM will send letters to the owners of the faulty batch of 690 Dukes
- The replacement will be carried out free of cost
- KTM 690 Duke is not sold in India
KTM has issued a recall for all of its 690 Duke and 690 Duke R models manufactured since 2016 globally thanks to a potential fuel leak issues. KTM has pointed out that the gasket in the fuel tank filler neck could be susceptible to leaking fuel in some models, prompting the company to issue a recall. KTM will be sending letters to the owners of the affected batch of 690 Duke and the 690 Duke R. The company will replace the gasket and the filler neck on the bike free of cost and the time taken will be less than an hour.
The recall notice said, "Due to tolerance variations, the system comprising the fuel tank, fuel tank filler neck and fuel tank filler neck gasket may leak and fuel may escape. A new fuel tank filler neck with modified gasket that is leak tight has therefore been developed. The gasket of the fuel level sensor was modified as part of this, and must be replaced as well."
The KTM 690 Duke is powered by a 690 cc single-cylinder engine, which makes around 72 bhp and 75 Nm of peak torque, with the engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Even though KTM has a broad range of performance motorcycles which it sells abroad, KTM only sells the 200 Duke, 250 Duke and the 390 Duke along with the RC 200 and the RC 390 in India, which we think is a pity. The performance motorcycles segment, broadly the 400 cc to 1000 cc category is seeing growth and it will be great to see more KTM bikes on the road in India.
