Lamborghini To Work On A New Four-Door Model; Launch in 2021

- The model might be based on the Lamborghini Estoque Concept
- There are no details on engines, platform or powertrain
- It will serve to bridge the gap between Urus SUV and Lambo sportscars
Italian sportscar manufacturer Lamborghini has reportedly started work on a brand new four-door model, apart from the Urus. The company will be looking to launch the same in four years from now. Once the Lamborghini Urus is launched in December this year, the company would like to work on more such products, which offer sustainable growth. The company is also looking to double the sales volumes of the Urus in the next few years. Lamborghini has also increased the size of the Urus' production site in order to prepare for large volumes.
(Lamborghini Estoque 4-door concept)Reports suggest that the new four-door model might be inspired from the Estoque Concept that Lamborghini had showcased nine years ago at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. But the work on that was halted thanks to the global economic crisis and on-going work on the Urus SUV. Lamborghini sees this new model as the perfect car to slot in between its supercars and the Urus SUV. With the new four-door model, the company might also be able to target a new set of customers.
(Lamborghini Estoque 4-door concept)While this will be an interesting departure from Lamborghini's current strategy, the company has already shown that it is ready to move with the times (like how it did with the Urus) and look to manufacture models which are a tad more practical than its supercars. However, expect the new model to be as extreme as its sportscars. There are no details available on powertrains and engine options as yet. Lamborghini might have to invest a substantial sum on platform development as well. It would actually be super interesting to see a traditional supercar manufacturer deviating from the norm and coming up with something exciting.
