Land Rover Defender 130 With 8 Seats Teased Ahead Of Debut This Month

- This is the long wheelbase Land Rover Defender 130.
- The 8-seater Defender appears longer at the rear.
- The 5-door Defender 130 joins the 90 3-door and the 110 5-door versions.
An off-road legend like the Land Rover Defender, completely revamped in 2020, welcomes an 8-seater version to the range for the first time. This is the long-wheelbase Land Rover Defender 130 which for the first time is shown in an official preview photo accompanied by some technical information and the date of the debut. On May 31, 2022, it will be unveiled, and orders will start at the same time. As per tradition, the number that characterizes the Defender version derives from the wheelbase length, which is why the new Defender 130 should have a wheelbase of about 3,300 mm.

The only image provided does not reveal much of the proportions of the 8-seater Land Rover Defender 130 which still appears longer at the rear. The official note specifies that the 8 seats of the new Defender 130 are distributed over three rows of seats according to the 2-3-3 scheme. This means that the third row of seats of the Defender 130, the one obtained in the rear load compartment, also provides three seats instead of the two seats available on the 7-seater Defender 110 which is based on the 2-3-2 scheme.

The new five-door Land Rover Defender 130 joins the 90 three-door versions (2,587 mm wheelbase) and the 110 five-door versions (3,022 mm wheelbase). Recall that the Defender range is then completed by the two-seater N1 commercial versions of the Defender 90 and 110. The engine range of the new Land Rover Defender 130 is not yet known, but it is easy to imagine that it can propose the more powerful variants of the mild-hybrid petrol and diesel powertrains, in addition to the plug-in hybrid and perhaps even the V8 to offer high performance to be shared with eight people.
