- The Discovery Sport petrol will be available only with the HSE variant
- In terms of design and features there are no changes or additions
- It is powered by a 237bhp, 2.0-litre petrol engine with 340Nm of torque
Last year Jaguar Land Rover India introduced the all new Land Rover Discovery Sport in India as a replacement to the ageing Freelander 2. Currently the British SUV manufacturer's most affordable product in the country, the Discovery Sport was introduced with a 5+2 seating option. Land Rover claims that the petrol powered Discovery Sport offers the exemplary levels of comfort along with the brand's exceptional off-road capability and reliability. An example of which, we recently saw when JLR used the Discovery Sport to pull a 100-Tonne train.

In terms of design and styling the SUV remains unchanged and so is the feature list. Similar to the diesel models, the petrol-powered Discovery Sport continue to offers Land Rover's signature offerings like - "All Terrain Capability", Hill Descent Control (HDC), Roll Stability Control (RSC), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Dynamic Stability Control (DCS), Command Driving position. In addition to that the SUV also offers style and comfort features like - Panoramic Sunroof, Adaptive Xenon Headlamps, stylish LED tail lamps, multiple USB charging points, and premium, comfortable upholstery.
As mentioned earlier this new Discovery Sport is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine the churns out a maximum of 237bhp and a peak torque of 340Nm. Like the diesel versions, this engine too comes mated to the company's tried and tested 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
Announcing the launch, Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd (JLRIL), said, "We are excited to introduce the petrol derivative of the Land Rover Discovery Sport. This will help us broaden the appeal of this fabulous premium versatile SUV for customers who are more inclined towards driving a vehicle with a powerful petrol engine at its heart along with Land Rover's legendary off-road capability and reliability - a perfect combination of performance, capability and composure."
