Mahindra Scorpio 1.99-Litre Version Gets Intelli-Hybrid Technology

- With Intelli-Hybrid, Scorpio is India's 1st SUV with mild hybrid tech
- Scorpio will be sold with a concessional VAT of 5% for customers in Delhi
- The starting price of the 1.99-L Intelli-Hybrid Scorpio is Rs. 9.35 lakh
A couple of months back, Mahindra introduced the same mild-hybrid technology with the regular 2.2-litre mHawk engine Scorpio across variants, in other parts of India. Now, with the addition of the Intelli-Hybrid in the 1.99-litre mHawk variants, the Scorpio will be sold as a mild-hybrid SUV across India.
Mahindra says that the Intelli-Hybrid can reduce fuel consumption by up to 7%. This by assisting the engine with electric power during acceleration automatically switches the engine off within 3 seconds of the vehicle being stationary (start-stop) and reusing brake energy, which would otherwise be wasted, to charge the battery. Coming to the engine itself, the Scorpio's 1.99-litre mHawk motor generate the same 120bhp and develops a peak torque of 280Nm. The oil burner comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Speaking about the introduction of Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid in Delhi and NCR, Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive, (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, "Intelli-Hybrid demonstrates our commitment to making modern technology more accessible to a wider audience. As an organisation that puts keen emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, across every process and product, we are delighted to introduce mild hybrid technology on the Scorpio. By reducing fuel consumption, Intelli-Hybrid helps Scorpio owners contribute towards a cleaner and greener Delhi and NCR".
