Mahindra revealed the all-new XUV400 electric SUV recently with a launch planned for early next year. Based on the XUV300, the XUV400 sits above the four-metre mark though much of the design and cabin shares the same basic design as the XUV300. Here is what you should know about Mahindra’s new SUV.
- At 4,200 mm, the XUV400 is a full 205 mm longer than the XUV300, its sister model, though at 2,600 mm the wheelbase remains unchanged. The width too is unchanged at 1821 mm

- The XUV400 will be the first Mahindra to wear the new EV specific copper-finished twin-peaks logo when it goes on sale next year.
- The exterior design is very similar to the XUV300 though up front the XUV400 gets a closed off grille, redesigned bumper and copper-accents to be identifiable as an EV.
- The XUV400 will get a copper-coloured roof as well.
- The cabin design is unchanged from the XUV300 though the XUV400 does get copper trim inserts and all-black upholstery.
- The XUV400 packs in 60+ connected vehicle functions including some dedicated for EVs such as trip planning and maps with EV charging stations displayed.

- The XUV400 will come with a 39.4kWh battery pack giving it a range of up to 456 km
- The XUV400 will support up to 50 kW DC fast charging. Mahindra says that the charger will fill the battery up to 80% in 50 minutes. With a 7.2 kW/32A outlet, the XUV400 takes 6 hours 30 minutes for 0-100% charge, while a full charge from a 3.3kW/16A socket takes 13 hours.

- The XUV400 will feature an electric motor powering the front wheels. It will develop 148 bhp and 310 Nm and propel the SUV from 0-100 kmph in a claimed 8.3 seconds. Top speed is a claimed 150 kmph.
- Mahindra will launch the XUV400 in India in January 2023 with deliveries to start in phases from the end of the same month.
