Maruti Suzuki S-Cross May Get a Petrol Variant Soon
- S-Cross received a price cut of up to Rs. 2.05 lakh earlier this year
- The new variant will be powered by the 1.5-litre M15 petrol engine
- Ciaz's 1.4-litre K14B VVT is likely to be replaced by the same engine
Though the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is performing comparably better now, the company hopes to further aid its stance in the segment with a new variant. Media reports claim that the carmaker is mulling the launch of a petrol variant of the S-Cross as measure to further push its sales.
According to Autocar, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will receive the 1.5-litre M15 petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, the S-Cross petrol could also receive a 4-speed automatic gearbox as an option. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki is also likely to replace the Ciaz's 1.4-litre K14B VVT petrol engine with the M15 1.5-litre motor. Other than the engine, the Maruti S-Cross petrol will not receive any cosmetic or feature changes.
The price of Maruti S-Cross's current line-up starts at Rs. 8.03 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 12.05 lakh. We expect Maruti Suzuki to price the S-Cross petrol between Rs. 7 lakh - Rs. 10 lakh.
