Highlights

Maserati had teased its all-new GranTurismo back in 2021 and while we still wait on the final car to drop, we now have our first look at its Folgore derivative ahead of its 2023 debut. Maserati shared a series of images depicting a camouflaged GranTurismo Folgore revealing an EV that shows very little design change over the upcoming GranTurismo. Aside from previewing the all-electric grand tourer Maserati also confirmed that an all-electric derivative of the new Grecale SUV for 2023.

Like with the standard new GranTurismo, the Folgore retains the GT car proportions of its predecessor - the cab-rearward design with a long low bonnet, flowing lines and short rear end. Compared to the previous teaser images detailing the standard GranTurismo Maserati seems to have made minimal changes to the EV with the most noticeable change here being the alloy-wheel design - likely exclusive to the Forgore. The flowing headlamps, sleek tail-lamps and Maserati grille all look to be unchanged over the upcoming combustion model.

As with its predecessor, expect the GranTurismo and GranTurismo Folgore to pack in a 2+2 cabin.

Speaking about the upcoming model Maserati says that it will be "a true icon for the brand, will offer cutting-edge technical solutions derived from Formula E, superb performance, comfort and elegance, all typical of the Trident."

Maserati is set to compete Formula E from the 2023 season as a manufacturer becoming the first Italian manufacturer to compete in the all-electric series.

The GranTurismo Folgore will be the first of Maserati's new EV hitting global markets with EV derivatives of the GranCabrio, Grecale and MC20 also in the works. The carmaker is eyeing an EV only line-up by 2030 with the upcoming next-gen Quattroporte and Levante also to get all-electric derivatives by 2025. The Ghibli on the other hand is expected to meet it's end with the current model with a new model unlikely.
