Mercedes-Benz C-Class And S-Class Cabriolets Launched In India

- These are the 10th and 11th car launches this calendar year by Mercedes
- The C300 and S500 Cabriolet get a fabric roof that folds in 20 seconds
- Mercedes-Benz has the largest portfolio of convertibles in India
The topless beauties are here! Mercedes-Benz India has launched the cabriolet variants of the C-Class and the S-Class in India. These two cars are the tenth and the eleventh launch of the year from Mercedes-Benz India. There will be one more launch from Mercedes-Benz India before the year comes to an end. Mercedes-Benz has the largest range of convertibles cars in India. The German manufacturer has sold 9,924 units till now in the calendar year and is hoping to end the year on a high.
(Mercedes-Benz C300 Cabriolet)The C300Cabriolet is the smallest convertible on sale (not that it is a small car) and takes the design cues from its sedan sibling albeit with a few changes. The C300 Cabriolet will have a fabric roof, a different front and rear end and of course, it is missing two doors at the rear. The roof folds down in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. It gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which is turbocharged and pumps out max power of 241bhp along with a peak torque of 370Nm, mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic transmission unit. It can hit top speed of 250 km/h and does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds. There will be a host of customisation options and optional equipment on offer as well. (Mercedes-Benz S500 Cabriolet)Coming to more luxurious S500 Cabriolet, the gorgeous, well-appointed convertible gets a powerful 4.7-litre V8 biturbo engine that puts out max power of 443bhp and peak torque of 700Nm. It can do the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds and hit a maximum of 250 km/h. The roof on this one too folds in 20 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The engine on the S500 Cabriolet too is mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic transmission unit. As far as styling is concerned the S500 Cabriolet borrows the design cues from the S-Class Coupe. The S500 Cabriolet will have 9 exterior colour options along with 4 colour options for the fabric roof as well. The S500 Cabriolet is the sixth S-Class model to be introduced in India.
While Mercedes-Benz already sells the feisty AMG S 63 in India, it has no plans of bringing in the AMG C 63 S Cabriolet to the country in the near future. In case you are interested in knowing how it feels, you can read our review of the AMG C 63 S here.
