Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV to be Launched on October 14 in India

The new SUV gets a new front fascia with a revised grille flanked by restyled head-lamps. The GLE also gets an updated rear-end with new LED tail-lamps and much sportier-looking exhaust system. As far as the Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV's interior is concerned, it sports a larger media display that is partially integrated into the instrument panel, centre and outer air vents framed by classy silver shadow surrounds, and the centre console with the COMAND controller with the touchpad among several other features.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV will be offered with a choice of 2 diesel motors: 2.1-litre and 3.0-litre V6. While the 2.1-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, puts out 201bhp along with 500Nm of peak torque, the V6 promises 254 horses and a maximum torque of 620Nm. Interestingly, with the new GLE SUV, Mercedes-Benz will also introduce the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission in India.

With that being said, the German carmaker is also likely to introduce the AMG variant of the GLE SUV, Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, in India albeit some time later. Successor to the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG, the GLE 63 S houses the AMG 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine under the hood.
