The German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz launched the C-Class Grand Edition to celebrate the 50,000th car produced from its Chakan production facility. Keeping with its 'Year of Excellence' initiative, the company introduced the new C-class Grand Edition with both, petrol and diesel engines, with a price tag of Rs 36.81 lakh and Rs 39.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) respectively.
However, neither of the variants of the C-Class Grand Edition feature any mechanical changes. The C200 CGI will continue to be powered by the 186bhp, 1.8-litre petrol mill, while the C220 CDI retains the 167bhp 2.2-litre turbo-diesel motor.
Talking about the styling changes on the Mercedes-Benz C-class Grand Edition, the sedan gets an AMG styling kit on the outside with front and rear aprons, side sills, 17-inch alloys with AMG hub caps and chrome tailpipes. The 'Grand Edition' badge has been placed on the wings. In terms of interiors, in addition to the features on the standard car, it comes with a new brushed aluminium trim, the multi-function colour display now comes along with satellite navigation, and a new panoramic sunroof.
The auto major reported a growth of 32% in volumes in the last calendar year and recently rolled out the 50,000th car from its plan in Chakan (Pune). Speaking about the milestone, Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India, said, "Touching the 50,000 cars mark, is the beginning of a next growth chapter for us. We are committed to the India story and the domestic market potential. We will also continue increasing our investments in the plant and infrastructure here."
