New-Gen Audi Q5 Spotted In India

- The new generation Q5 is based on the lighter MLB-Evo platform
- It gets a host of updates to the looks and equipment as well
- The new Audi Q5 will take on the Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3 & Mercedes GLE
It was almost a year back from now when we brought you our exclusive review of the next-generation Audi Q5. The SUV was first unveiled at last year's Paris Motor Show and is expected to be launched in India by the end of this year or early next year. Recently, the new-gen Audi Q5 has been spotted testing in India with some minimal camouflage, which indicates that the launch of the car could be imminent. The test mule of the new Q5 also doesn't come with any kind of badging, which is probably done for discretion. Having said that, the model otherwise looks almost production-ready.

Now, this is not the first time that the new Audi Q5 has been spotted testing in India. In fact, it was just early this year, in February when we first caught the SUV on the camera in the country. In the new spy images we can see that apart from avoiding the logos and badging, Audi has also masked the LED taillamps to hide the prominent design and styling elements of the car. But the new design and sharp character lines can be quite evidently seen. As usually seen on Audi test mules the SUV comes with a low-key black paint job along with a set of black alloy wheels, which to be frank look quite styling and we hope that it's offered with the production model as well.

New Audi Q5 gets new LED taillamps and new bumper
While the front of the SUV might not visible in these images, we already know what to expect. The updated face of the new Audi Q5 will come with a large single frame chrome grille, flanked by the carmaker's signature Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic turn indicators. The Q5 also comes with a beefy front bumper with large air intakes for increased airflow.
The new Audi Q5 will also come with a host of smart and comfort features like - Audi's virtual cockpit, ambient lighting, head-up display (HUD) unit as well as the Audi MMI infotainment system. The Virtual Cockpit that uses a 12.3-inch display unit that replaces the conventional instrument cluster and a larger 8.3-inch infotainment display unit along with MMI Touch. Other features include wireless charging and three-zone climate control. It also comes with Predictive Efficiency Assist that can tie into navigation and adapt speed in line with traffic data.

Audi India is expected to launch the new Q5 later this year or early next year
Under the hood, the new Audi Q5 gets a 2.0 litre TDI diesel motor that is seen on the current Audi Q5 will make it to the next generation model, paired to the 7-speed S-Tronic automatic transmission and Quattro AWD. The new 2-litre TFSI petrol motor could also make it to India given the growing demand for petrol vehicles in the country.
