New Tesla Roadster Will Do 0-100 kmph in 1.9 Seconds!

The Tesla Roadster Is Back! And How! Just after the reveal of the Tesla Semi truck, Elon Musk surprised the present crowd by announcing the new Tesla Roadster that will make its public debut in 2020. And here are the absolutely insane specs! 0-100 kmph in 1.9 seconds! A top speed of over 400 kmph and a range of over 1000 kms! The Tesla Roadster will also get down the quarter mile from a standstill in only 8.8 seconds which is quicker than anything in existence today! The new Tesla Roadster will also have an absolutely insane 10000 Nm of peak torque - enough to shred any tyre in existence if there is no smart traction control added to the mix.

And these are just the figures for the prototype that is almost ready today. Elon Musk confirmed that the production car will be even quicker and have even more range as battery technology gets lighter and more powerful with every day. While the performance is impressive considering the fact that electric cars offer serious amounts of torque and power instantly, what we are genuinely impressed about is the sheer range that the new car will offer once in production.

The Tesla Roadster will feature three electric motors, one in the front and two in the back giving the car all-wheel-drive. The power will be delivered by a 250-kilowatt-hour battery which will be placed low down to give the car a lower centre of gravity and a sleeker profile. True to its name, the Roadster will have a removable hard top and will not be a two seater but a 2+2, like a Porsche 911 for example.

The Tesla Roadster will not be cheap though, with an expected price of $200,000 for the base car with a reservation price of $50,000. Tesla will also offer 1000 Tesla Roadsters as a part of the Founder Series at a price of $250,000.
