Next-Gen Yamaha FZ V3 Motorcycle Spotted Testing Again

Another test mule of the new-gen Yamaha FZ V3 was recently spotted in India. The latest images reveal a near-production unit, and this time around we also get to see the front section of the motorcycle. While the image is not very clear, the bike does seem to come with a new sleeker headlamp with a separate LED daytime running lamp. The profile, however, is much clearer in these images, compared to the previous ones, and we get to see a bunch of new elements as well.

For instance, the new Yamaha FZ V3 comes with a redesigned fuel tank, which appears to be a bit larger now with new sharper-looking tank extensions below. Another major change, of course, is the new single-piece seat, unlike the two-piece seat in the outgoing model, which will lead to a more comfortable seating position and will also be more pillion-friendly. The bike also comes with an updated tail section with new single piece grab-rail and revised taillamp. Among other features, the bike now also features a new tyre-hugger, a new beefier exhaust pipe with dual tone black and gunmetal treatment. The alloy wheels are also new and also new 10-spoke alloy wheels, which look like 17-inch units.

(The new FZ will have a bunch of new features as well)
Other changes that we expect to see will include a new instrument cluster, possibly an all-digital LED unit similar to the one on the new YZF R15 V3 that was launch early this year. Come April 2019, all new two-wheelers with displacement equal to or more than 125 cc will compulsorily need to have ABS and going by this, we believe Yamaha will offer ABS as standard fitment right from the launch itself. Of course, it could be a single-channel unit to keep the costs down.
Powering the new bike will be the same 149 cc single-cylinder, fuel injected motor that powers the existing model. Currently, the engine is tuned to generate a maximum of about 13 bhp and a peak torque of 12.8 Nm, while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox. We do not expect that to change. As for the launch, there is no update on that matter yet, however, Yamaha is hosting a press conference on January 21, details of which are still unknown. It's possible that the company might launch the bike then.
