Omega Seiki Mobility Invests USD 200 Million In A New EV Manufacturing Plant; Will Cater To Both Dom

- Omega Seiki Mobility has invested USD 200 million in a new plant in AP.
- The plant will cater to both local and exports demand.
- 50 per cent of the overall output will be dedicated to exports.
Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturer, Omega Seiki is coming up with a new manufacturing plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh and according to the news reports this plant will be primarily used for exports of its newly launched electric light commercial vehicle (eLCV) with half of its overall output dedicated to global markets. The plant in Visakhapatnam is Omega Seiki's first CV manufacturing facility dedicated to a range of light, medium and heavy-duty electric commercial vehicles the company has in the pipeline.

The new plant will cater to both local market and exports demand.
Omega Seiki has invested around USD 200 million in the Visakhapatnam plant and is planning to soon start with the manufacturing of heavy-duty electric trucks. Recently, a prototype of the OSM M1KA which is based on a new generation modular EV platform was also spotted testing. The company will spawn other Medium and & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) for the company as well. The new OSM M1KA HCV has a payload capability of 1.5, 3.5, and 6.5-tonne, and will most likely be offered in two variants. The OSM M1KA HCV can be used for multiple applications including courier, goods distribution, e-commerce, and FMCG among others.

Omega Seiki's new OSM M1KA HCV was spotted testing recently.
Other than the local market demand, the new plant will cater to orders from markets like Africa, the Gulf countries and ASEAN region in phase 1 and in phase II it is planning to expand to market like the US and Europe. Recently, the company also announced a strategic partnership with Goenka Green Pvt Ltd to open over 500 dealerships across India by FY 2023-24.
