Porsche North America has issued a series of recall announcements, which affects almost all of its models that are sold currently. These recalls have currently only been announced for the North American market but considering its safety implications, we think other markets might follow suit too.

To begin with, the convertible range of sportscars i.e. 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, 911 Targa S, 911 Targa 4S, 911 Turbo Cabriolet, 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, 718 Boxter, and 718 Boxter S have been recalled. The recall is due to the fact that the windshield might not be correctly installed at the time of the manufacturing process which might cause it to detach in case of an accident. The recall process is expected to begin soon and the dealerships are expected to rebond or replace the windscreen free of charge.

Tbe coupe range of sportscars have also been affected by a recall. The 911 GT3 RS and 911 R vehicles, and 2017 911 Carrera, 911 Carrera Cabriolet, 911 Carrera 4, 911 Carrera 4S, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, 911 Targa 4, 911 Targa 4S, 911 Turbo S, 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, 718 Boxster, 718 Boxster S, 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S models will be recalled. The recall is due to a fault in the front passenger seat and a defective passenger occupant detection sensor. The sensor failing may result in the airbag not being deployed in case of an accident which could prove fatal.

In the SUV segments, the Macan S, Macan Turbo and Macan GTS have also been recalled with the same passenger seat sensor issue. That said, the Macan models affected are said to be the ones made in 2015 and 2016. The Cayenne SUV, which is one of the largest selling Porsche models and the Panamera sedan have not been affected by this recall yet.

Porsche has just launched the 718 range in India with the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster and it is unclear yet whether right hand drive models of the sportscar have the same windscreen or seat sensor issues.
