Self Drive Nepal Becomes BYDs Exclusive Rental Partner; Procures 50 e6 Electric MPVs

- BYD's partner in Nepal, Cimex has signed an agreement with Self Drive
- Self Drive has placed an order for 50 units of BYD's all-electric MPV e6
- Self Drive has already commenced its fleet operations with the BYD e6
Electric vehicle manufacturer BYD's partner in Nepal, Cimex Inc., has signed an agreement with Self Drive Nepal, a subsidiary of Spark Group for emission-free rental fleet operation in the country. Self Drive has placed an order for 50 units of BYD's all-electric MPV, the e6, and this is the single largest order for Electric Vehicle Fleet Operation in South Asia received by BYD. On April 20, 2022, Cimex Inc. and Self Drive signed a framework agreement making the latter the exclusive rental partner for BYD electric vehicles.
BYD says that the introduction of a luxury electric vehicle fleet operation in Nepal, with the e6 MPV, is a huge milestone for both companies. Self Drive has already commenced its fleet operations with the BYD e6, and the company says that it will offer low-cost, zero-emission, chauffeured cars to corporate and private clients in Kathmandu.

Commenting on the agreement with Spark, Sahil Shrestha, the CEO of Cimex Inc. said, "We have been looking for various options to promote Electric Mobility with BYD's green technologies in Nepal. We are convinced that we have found the right partner to do this - we share many of the same objectives of providing safe, reliable, and efficient green transport in cities."
On the other hand, Roshan Pokharel, CEO of Self Drive, added, "BYD's e6 will meet all our requirements to offer passengers comfort, good range, and rapid charging experience. We share BYD's desire to provide practical, zero-emission solutions and look forward to a long-term partnership."

The BYD e6 Electric MPVs is equipped with a 71.7 kWh Blade Battery, the MPV is claimed to offer a WLTC (world harmonized light-duty vehicle test procedure) range of 520 km, on a single charge
As part of the deal, Cimex will also set up BYD service centre at Spark Group's facility in Guheshwori, Kathmandu. The workshop facility is scheduled to be operational by May 2022 and will have highly trained professionals and modern equipment to strengthen BYD's position in Nepal. The company has also installed fast chargers at the facility.

The BYD e6 electric MPV uses the firm's Blade battery technology packing a 71.7 kWh lithium-ion unit. The electric motor develops about 94 bhp and 180 Nm, while the top speed stands at 130 kmph. The e6 supports both AC and DC fast charging, and it can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent using a DC fast charger in 35 minutes. The model promises a maximum range of up to 520 km on a single charge.
