Tata Tigor EV Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 9.44 Lakh

Following the introduction of Tigor EV for Government and fleet consumers, Tata Motors today announced the launch of its extended range Tigor EV Electric sedan for all consumers. Just for the record, the Tigor does not get the Ziptron electric powertrain that the company announced recently. We've already told you that it's the Nexon that will receive this EV powertrain first. The Tigor Electric will be available in 3 variants - XE+, XM+ and XT+ - and will be available for both fleet and normal consumers. Tata Motors is making the car available across 30 cities and prices start at Rs. 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This amount is after deducting all the government subsidies.

The Tigor EV qualifies for a FAME II incentive for eligible commercial customers. The new extended version offers an enhanced driving range as well and that is rated at 213 km on a single charge which is 71 kilometres more than before. Ashesh Dhar, Head - Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Electric Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd. said, "This new version builds on the success of the award winning Tigor EV, which is already deployed with several fleets and Government customers. This launch reinforces our commitment towards sustainable mobility solutions in India."

The Tigor EV gets signature EV decals on the side, while the front grille gets a premium look. The alloy wheels on the car are different too while there's a shark-fin antenna & LED high mounted stop lamp at the rear. The company is making the Tigor EV available in 3 colours - Pearlescent white, Egyptian blue and Roman silver.
The cabin is similar to the petrol/diesel powered Tigor
There are changes made to the inside too as the Tigor EV gets black and grey interiors. It also gets a single speed transmission, while the fabric seats also a height adjustable seat. The Tigor EV gets a 21.5 kWh battery pack but the power figures have not yet been put out by the company. Additionally, the vehicle will be equipped with dual airbags (XE+ variant with Driver Airbag only) and an anti-lock braking system as standard safety features. The vehicle also comes with an inbuilt warranty of 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms, whichever is earlier.
