Tata Zest Launch - Live Coverage

P.S: The live blog was done during the launch of the Tata Zest that concluded this afternoon. The Zest has been launched in the price bracket of Rs 4.64 lakh - 6.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

This has been quite a month in the auto industry; a lot of cars that promise to revolutionize the industry were launched, and now it is Tata's turn with the Zest - the first new product based on the company's 'DesigNext, DriveNext, ConnectNext' philosophy. Tata had commenced the sedan's production and pre-bookings in the last week of July, and is now ready started to present the car to the country.
It shouldn't be long before the launch is underway, since it is scheduled to begin at at 12:30 PM. So stay tuned and keep refreshing the page.
12:30: And we are here to experience 'Zest another day in paradise'. The launch event begins!

12:35: The Zest is the first all-new product based on Tata Motors' 'DesigNext, DriveNext, ConnectNext' philosophy.
12:39: The car has been designed with inputs from the three design studios of Tata Motors - Pune, Conventry (UK) and Turin (Italy).
12:45: Tim Leverton, Head of Research & Development, is on stage to talk about product development at Tata Motors.
12:46: 'HorizonNext' started 12 months ago that focuses on 'DesigNext, ConnectNext and DriveNext'. The Zest is part of this deal, says Tim.
12:47: Last three years have been about transforming the business. Focus has been on technology, products and styling, says official.
12:49: Dedicated product and engineering teams have been a part of the overhaul. More than 6,000 engineers and technicians at 11 centres in 5 countries.
12:51: Many process and procedures that are required in design and technology have been put in place with the help of Jaguar Land Rover - Tata Motors owned British luxury marque.
12:53: The Zest has raised the bar of what a compact sedan should actually be like, says Tim. Quick fact: Tata Motors was the first company to enter the compact sedan segment in India with the launch of the Indigo eCS.
12:56: The new Zest speaks of global design and has undergone 3 lakh hours of testing., says Tata Motors.
12:57: Harman has helped Tata design the next-level of connectivity. Quick fact: Harman/Kardon has designed the infotainment and audio acoustics system for the Zest, While MapmyIndia has designed the next-gen navigation & location based services.
12:58: Tata Motors shows a video that shows the Zest has been made by youngsters for youngsters.
1:00: DesignNext for Tata Motors started off with the Pixel and then the Megapixel concept cars, says Tata.
1:03: The Zest gets new Tata signature grille with the new 'Humanity Line', which flows into the head-lamps. Other fascinating design elements are projector head-lamps with chrome accents, LED lamps at the rear and a new set of 15-inch alloy wheels. Quick fact: The Zest is the first car in its class to get LED tail lamps.
1:04: Tata Motors with the Zest does not want its car to be aggressive looking but to make it more appealing.
1:05: Interiors of the car are made more driver-focused and quality has gone a notch higher, says Tata Motors.
1:06: Steering wheel of the car is 366mm in diameter, which makes it smaller than any other model produced by Tata, except Tata Nano.
1:09: Tata Zest Key Features: Projector Headlamps, LED DRLs, wrap-around tail-lamps, 15" alloy wheels, Harman infotainment system.
1:10: Mr. Girish Wagh, Head - Product Planning, now on stage to talk about the engine and infotainment of the Zest.
1:12: The All new Revotron 1.2-litre is the first turbocharged petrol engine in its class. It gets three driving modes - ECO, City and Sport.
1:14: The multi-drive mode helps driver to engage in any mode on the fly. Injectors from Bosch, Honeywell helped with turbocharger for the Zest.
1:15: The Electronic Power-steering has been finally replaced by the Hydraulic assisted one.
1:16: Safety too has been taken care of with the next-gen ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control.
1:17: The Zest's 2470mm of wheelbase ensures a spacious cabin.
1:19: Harman Infotainment system with 8 Speakers HVAC control, customized follow me headlamps, remote for passengers at the rear seat, voice messaging and voice recognition are all part of the package.
1:21: Under its '333 Confidence' Scheme, Tata Motors will provide 3 years of 1 lakh KMs warranty coverage, 3 Years or 45,000 KMs AMC and 3 Years Road Side Assistance with the Zest.
1:25: And The Zest has been finally uncovered.

1:28: Tata Motors claims to have renovated 160 dealerships across the nation to welcome the Zest. Tata servive advisors ow have tablets to open job cards online. Tablets will have all the details of the car which will help in tracking the progress.
