The Honda City Is The Highest Selling Compact Sedan In India In 2017

Honda has been selling the City in India since 1998 and after 20 years of being in the country, the compact sedan is no less than an icon. But with competition surging in that segment, the City has been able to hold its ground for quite a few years. In fact the Honda City has become the highest selling sedan in India in 2017 beating the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and even the Hyundai Verna.
Honda sold 62,573 units of the City while the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz clocked 47,114 units in sales. The new-gen Hyundai Verna was launched only in august 2017 and is picking up pace but it couldn't surpass the City in 2017.
Honda sold more than 4300 units in December itself and has been selling an average of 4000 units of the City per month. The City received a facelift in February 2017 and came loaded with a host of new features and cosmetic upgrades. The 2017 Honda City comes in a total of 11 variants with two engine options. While the fuel efficiency has been revised in the new model, mechanically the Honda City facelift remains unchanged.
The City is one of the bestselling cars from the Honda stable followed by the WR-V and the facelift just made certain that the car remained up to date before the onset of the next generation of the Verna. The Honda City has been able to sustain this competition and kudos to the Japanese car maker on adopting this strategy.
