VinFast VF7 Electric SUV Spotted On Test Ahead Of India Launch

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is all set to begin its India innings with its VF7 and VF6 electric SUVs. Now, the VF7 has been spotted testing on Indian roads. The VF7 was previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year and is expected to be launched during the upcoming festive season. It is set to be the first model from VinFast to go on sale in India, with the VF6 to follow.

The test vehicle, though camouflaged, retains the same design language as the model displayed at the expo and the one previously test-driven in Vietnam. The overall design remains largely unchanged, although the Indian version may come with smaller wheels, likely adapted for road conditions. Measuring slightly over 4.5 metres in length, the VF7 features VinFast’s signature front grille and distinct ‘V-shaped’ LED headlamps with integrated DRLs.
Despite the camouflage, some equipment is still visible. At the front, the India-spec VF7 appears to get an ADAS sensor mounted low on the front bumper. What is also noticeable is the camera hooked on the outside rear-view mirror (ORVM) for the 360-degree cameras and blind-spot monitoring.

In global markets, the VF7 is offered in two variants: Eco and Plus. The Eco variant is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor putting out 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. The Plus variant features dual motors with all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output of 348 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it gets a 70.8 kWh unit offering a claimed range of up to 450 km for the FWD Eco version and 431 km for the AWD Plus version.
Once launched, the VF7 will compete in the premium electric SUV segment against rivals like the Mahindra XUV 9E, Tata Harrier EV, and BYD Atto 3. VinFast plans to assemble the VF7 at its upcoming manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin), Tamil Nadu.
