Volkswagen India Teases the New Beetle; Bookings Open

As we've told you earlier that the new generation of the Volkswagen Beetle is all set to hit Indian shores in December and now the company has teased the new model coming to India on its website. Volkswagen has also opened bookings for the Beetle and you can book yours for an amount of Rs. 1 lakh. The car made its way into India in 2009 but didn't quite make a mark when it comes to sales, however, having an iconic car like the Beetle in India will reinforce the company's product portfolio and it's dedication to the Indian customer. The Beetle coming to India will come with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine which delivers 148bhp and will be available with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Other features on the Beetle include Bi-Xenon headlamps with LED Daytime running lights, Panoramic Sunroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, KESSY - keyless access and push button start and many more. Volkswagen also promises leather Interiors and chrome packages for the interior and exterior. There will be 4 body colours on sale and customers can take their pick. As was the case with its earlier model, the Beetle will take the CBU route to India and this will see it being priced between Rs. 34 to 36 lakh. The Beetle will be go up against the likes of the MINI Cooper, the Mercedes A-Class, the BMW 1-Series and the Fiat 500 Abarth.
