Volkswagen Taigun Compact SUV Production To Begin In August

- Volkswagen will begin the Taigun's production on August 18 in India
- The Volkswagen Taigun will be built at the company's Chakan plant
- The Taigun will go on sale in the next few weeks after production begins
The Volkswagen Taigun is one of the most awaited offerings from the German auto giant, and the company has now announced that it will begin production of the upcoming compact SUV on August 18, 2021. The Taigun is expected to go on sale around the festive period and shares its underpinnings with the recently-launched Skoda Kushaq. The production-spec Volkswagen Taigun made its India debut earlier this year and the model will be rich in features. Prices for the made in India, made for India SUV are likely to begin from Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

Volkswagen says that the Taigun will have the longest wheelbase in the segment
The Volkswagen Taigun is based on the MQB A0 IN platform specifically developed for India and the model will see over 90 per cent local content going in. The SUV will be offered with the 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines, paired with manual and automatic transmission choices.
The production-spec Volkswagen Taigun was revealed in March this year and the model will come with LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, beefy bumpers, split LED taillights and more. The cabin will get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats and an electric sunroof, as part of the features list. Other goodies include Type-C USB charging ports, wireless charging, and auto climate control.

The Volkswagen Taigun will get a digital instrument console and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system
The new Volkswagen Taigun will compete against the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, and its cousin Skoda Kushaq in the segment. The SUV is being produced at Volkswagen's Chakan facility in Maharashtra.
