Yesteryear Bollywood Superstars And Their Love For Cars

Yesteryear Bollywood superstars sure loved their cars! B-Town annals are replete with legendary stories of stars and their fascination with four-wheeled marvels. Motilal was one of the highest-paid villains and character actors in Bollywood. He was fond of riding in American cars, using even a pristine white Cadillac El Dorado convertible in his film Anari. He even used a Buick Super Eight, a white coloured Packard, and a Dodge Kingsway among other vehicles in the 1950s movie Paigham.
Bhagwan Dada, the iconic actor of Bollywood, owned various luxury cars. However, he had to give them all up after his home production Albela did not strike gold at the box office. O.P. Nayyar, the famous music director, was the proud owner of a Cadillac while Ashok Kumar, the legendary thespian, owned a Riley back in the 1950s. You will be pleasantly surprised to know that even Lata Mangeshkar bought a Chevrolet Deluxe as her first car, which was a 1952 model.
Popular director-producer-comedian Mehmood was also fond of swanky cars, including his personal favourite, a bright red Chevrolet Corvette. Guru Dutt had a stunning XK-120 in white, which can also be seen in Pyasa. Music director Madan Mohan had a Studebaker Champion Coupe. Feroz Khan was a flamboyant star, who loved his Mercedes Benz models and jeeps of various kinds. He possessed several W114 and W115 models along with Pagoda-top SL models, W124, W126, and W123 models along with the W116-450SEL. Zeenat Aman owned a W116 280 SEL in beige while Shashi and Shammi Kapoor both had W115 models for a long while. Shashi Kapoor drove the car himself in almost all his movies, although it was repainted white thereafter.
