2014 Auto Expo: Fiat unveils the Avventura Compact SUV

Fiat today unveiled the Avventura compact crossover at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The Fiat Avventura is a rugged-looking version of the Punto, and both the cars share most parts, components and platform. The closest competitor for the Avventura crossover will be the Toyota Etios Cross and the Volkswagen Cross Polo in India.
When compared with the regular Punto hatchback, the Avventura is certainly a more aggressive looking car with roof rails, rear-mounted spare wheel and side cladding with 'Avventura' written on it. The rear-mounted wheel gives it an SUV-like look. The car also has a more premium upholstery and better features than the regular version; so, expect it to be priced a little higher than the regular version.
Mechanically, there will be no changes made to the car as it will continue to sport the 1.3-litre multi-jet diesel engine, which pumps out a maximum power output of 90bhp, with the peak torque of 200Nm. There might also be a 1.4-litre FIRE petrol engine.
