2014 Tata Aria facelift launched; gets more power, features and mileage

After a long wait, Tata Motors has finally rolled out the new 2014 Aria today at a starting price of Rs 9.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Along with slight changes in design and more features, the updated Aria also receives a tuned engine. NDTV Auto was the first autoportal to report about 2014 Aria's pre-booking staus and updated features.
On the outside, the updated Aria gets new decals clear lens tail lamps and black bezel double barrel headlamps. While inside the cabin, the new Aria features HARMAN Premium Sound System tailored by JBL along with four mid-range speakers, four tweeters, one centre speaker and 1 sub-woofer.
And like we predicted in our exclusive story, the Aria's 2.2-litre VARICOR engine has been tuned for more power this time. The engine churns out 148bhp (150 PS), which earlier used to be 138bhp (140 PS). Despite increase in power, the engine is claimed to return an improved fuel efficiency of 15.05kmpl (ARAI certified). The company says that the new engine with VGT (Variable-Geometry Turbocharger) is electronically controlled with a lower-end flat torque, which kicks in from as low as 1500rpm, for a more precise response from the engine, improving in-city driving capabilities.
Other features offered with the Aria are in-dash satellite navigation system, leather upholstery, three-row theatre-style flexible seating, selectable 4x4 with Torque-on-Demand system, six airbags, follow me home headlmaps, rain-sensing wipers, steering mounted music and cruise control with BLUE5 connect, Dual AC with automatic climate control, ABS, EBD, ESP and Traction Control System, for superior stability and vehicle control, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs etc. However, many of the aforementioned feautres are only offered with the top-end trim.
The company is also offering a vehicle warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms, whichever is earlier. Like before, the car is available in three 3 trim levels - Pure LX, Pleasure and Pride 4x4.
