Land Rover Officially Reveals the 2015 Discovery Sport

Ever since we first laid eyes on the concept, it became the most anticipated of launches. Yes, I am talking about the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport. Previewed by the Discovery Vision concept, the design of the Discovery Sport is a familiar one. The design is heavily influenced by the Range Rover Evoque and that might put off those Discovery fans but the changes make it look more futuristic now.
The Discovery Sport has a slender two-bar grille, LED fog lamps and a rakish C-pillar. It also features an acoustic laminated windshield, front fender vents and front / rear skid plates. Xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights will be on offer on the top-end variants.
One has to admit that the inside of the car is a bit less flamboyant than the exterior. It is a bit plain but gets features like a multi-function steering wheel, gloss black accents and metallic trim. Then, there are the analogue gauges and an 8-inch display for the infotainment system.

The second row of the Discovery Sport features a 60/40 split that can recline and slide to the rear by up to 6.3-inches to provide 39.8-inches of rear seat legroom. For those wanting to fit more people in the car Land Rover has provided the option of a third row seat which folds into the floor. However, the company also suggests you limit it to occasional usage.
Talking about the engines on offer, the 2015 Discovery Sport will get a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that develops 240bhp and 338Nm torques. The engine will come mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.

Land Rover confirmed that the Discovery Sport has a lightweight body shell that uses high-strength steel, ultra high-strength boron steel and aluminum. The hood, roof, front fenders and tailgate also constructed out of aluminum to reduce weight.
Land Rover says that the baby Discovery is still a proper off-roader with 212mm ground clearance and approach, departure and breakover angles of 25, 31 and 21 degrees, respectively.
